The annual NLPA AGM was held on July 14th with a new executive board unanimously voted in for the next term.
Jason Fancey has decided to step down from his position as President of the association to pursue other interests but will remain involved in the sport to some degree. We thank Jason for his tireless dedication to the NLPA and the sport as a whole as well as the former executive board for their service in growing Powerlifting in Newfoundland and Labrador. The new executive has been updated on the site and are working diligently on new initiatives for the association and sport in the province.
We had another fantastic and successful Provincial Meet July 14 and 15th. Results can be found here: http://www.powerlifting.ca/prov/nfld/2017_nl_provs.php. Competition in this event requires a current CPU membership. A current CPU membership requires that you have done the CCES True Sport e-Learning Module
Folks who have not completed this module will not be allowed to lift! It’s relatively easy to do, mostly painless, and will tell you everything you need to know about what happens during drug testing both in and out of meets and how to make sure that you are compliant with doping regulations by not deliberately or inadvertently taking anything restricted (including getting the required exemptions if your doctor prescribes a restricted substance – NOTE that you MUST do this for certain substances even if you have a prescription). Please also note that becoming a CPU member means that you can be subjected to testing at any time. This is important stuff.
